Direct-to-Film (DTF)
Vibrant, durable prints on any fabric type. DTF technology delivers exceptional color accuracy and detail with no minimum order requirements.
What is Direct-to-Film Printing?
Direct-to-Film (DTF) is a modern printing method that creates vibrant, durable transfers that can be applied to virtually any fabric type. Unlike DTG, which prints directly onto garments, DTF prints designs onto a special film, which is then heat-pressed onto the fabric.
The DTF process uses water-based inks and a powder adhesive layer that bonds the design to the fabric when heat is applied. The result is a soft, flexible print with excellent color vibrancy and durability. DTF works on cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, and even leather—making it one of the most versatile decoration methods available.
DTF is ideal for small batches, complex designs, and situations where you need consistent results across different fabric types. With no minimums and fast turnaround, it’s perfect for on-demand production, custom orders, and testing new designs.
Best Use Cases
Any Fabric Type
Works on cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, canvas, and more. Perfect when you need consistent results across different materials.
Dark & Light Garments
Vibrant colors on both light and dark fabrics. The white underbase ensures your design pops on any background color.
Full-Color Designs
Print unlimited colors, gradients, and photo-realistic images without increasing costs or complexity.
Small Batch Production
No minimums. Perfect for testing designs, limited drops, and on-demand fulfillment models.
Limitations to Consider
Slight Texture
DTF transfers have a slightly thicker feel compared to DTG. The print sits on top of the fabric rather than soaking into it.
Not Ideal for Large Volumes
DTF is perfect for small to medium batches, but for orders over 100 pieces, screen printing may be more cost-effective.
Heat Press Required
DTF transfers must be applied with a heat press. This adds a production step compared to direct printing methods.
Care Instructions Matter
To maximize durability, wash inside-out in cold water and avoid high-heat drying. Proper care ensures long-lasting prints.

Yes! DTF works great on polyester, nylon, and performance fabrics—unlike DTG, which is limited to cotton-rich materials.
- DTG (Direct-to-Garment): Prints directly into the fabric for a soft, retail-quality finish, best for full-color artwork or photographic designs.
- DTF (Direct-to-Film): Prints onto film and is heat-transferred for a vibrant, slightly raised finish, ideal for bold vector logos and consistent colors across multiple fabrics (tees, hoodies, caps).
Both methods deliver durable, high-quality results, you may choose the best option based on your artwork and garment.
